Just something on my mind

I would like to take this opportunity to address the people of Carbon and Emery countries. No, I am not running for office or anything like that, it is just something that has been nagging at me for a long time that I should do.

First let me give you a quick back ground on me. I was born during the "Great Depression" and grew up on a farm during WWII. Am a Korean Veteran and was a college professor and high school teacher for 28 years before retiring.

As you watch the news on TV or read the paper you know that things are changing and fast. Or maybe you are one of the 82,000 unemployed people in Utah. You are not alone,Texas lost 62,000 jobs last month and Colorado lost
5,300! These are now among the 15,000,000 citizens out of work. Have you ever wonder, WHY? There are several reasons! One could be that the government hands out about 100,000 "GREEN CARDS" a month. Another wake -up call would be to check out our Congressmen "GRADE CARDS" on immigration. This can easily be done by going to NumbersUSA on your computer, if you don't have a computer, check at your local library.

Don't take the word of this "Old Guy", do some research on your own. I remember my folks talking about what was happening in Europe during the late "30". Then on the farm, hearing FDR's speech after Pearl Harbor on a battery powered radio and his ending "so help us God"

I don't mind telling you that what I see today happening in our country scares me! Not so much for me, as I will "Cross Over" in a few years, but for the young people of today. Yours and mine, our children and grand children that will be paying for the years to come on what is being passed now in Congress.

I would be lying if I said I wasn't worried about many of the things happening in our country. We have some big problems that need fixing. I won't go into specifics, but we all know there are big issues on our doorstep, and even bigger ones on the horizon.

While I do think a large number of our state and federal government representatives act and/or vote based on what is best for them, or their campaign supporters, I do think there are some out there that truly try to do good by their constituents, and to do what's best for the people they represent.

I see a lot of bad in this world... an awful lot. But I also see a lot of good. The good people usually don't make the headlines (particularly in the state and national news), so we often forget they're there. But there's an a bunch of them out there. And many times their impact on the world is small in comparison to, say, world leaders... but collectively they make a big difference.

So yes, I am worried about where this great country is headed... but I still have hope for the future, and that makes all the difference in the world.

Somehow "Dr. Love3" seems oddly familiar...
